Stretching your Hand Soap

Today's little tip isn't so much how to create something from scratch, but how to stretch your dollar. I've been doing this for a while now.  I used to make hand soap out of our soap slivers, but ya know, it just didn't feel like it got our hands clean enough.  It was a fun experiment though!  Here's what I'm doing now.
You'll need:
Cheap, but effective hand soap (the kind that is the consistency of shampoo)
Foaming soap dispenser
Water
Start by pouring your water into your dispenser.  I leave at least an inch of head space.
By pouring the water in first, the soap won't stick to the bottom in a clump.
Dump in 1 to 2T of your soap depending on how sudsy you like it.
I just eyeball it anymore.  You really don't need a lot.
Screw on the lid and give her a good shake!
Shake it, don't break it, I always say!
And use it!  Wasn't that easy!?
I paid $2.99 for that huge jug of soap at NoFrills several months ago.  It's every bit as good as Dial antibacterial and smells the same.  You see how there's not much missing from the jug?  That stuff lasts a long time when you use it this way.  And we wash our hands a lot around here, especially me!  I used to pay $5 or $6 for the same sized jug of the foaming stuff.  Not anymore! This thing is going to last forevahhhh!  Now, that's a bargain!  Such a simple change, but such a money saver!

    1. I'm sorry, I do not. I guess I hadn't thought of that yet. I have just been buying the really cheap stuff at the dollar store, but I'd bet you could put some lotion or conditioner in it to make it more moisturizing!

    1. Hi Lacey. I got this at Target if memory serves me, but it's been a few years. I honestly think the recycled ones from old foaming hand soaps I had bought in the past work better though. You can usually just peel off the label and have a 'clear' one that matches any decor. I knew I kept them for a reason, lol! Thanks for your comments! :)
